v4.0

Version 4.0 was released on 17 April 2010.

General

  • Introduction of the “Credits” system, which turns the subscription into a prepaid account. There are no more limitations to the number of users, storage space, Public Folders, mailboxes, or length of the subscription. Instead, the pure usage of the system is charged:
    • for each upload or download, the credits are decreased with an amount that corresponds with the file size;
    • on a daily basis, the stored files are examined and the credits are decreased with an amount that corresponds with the total of all stored files.
If the credits get below zero, the access to the site gets limited until new credits are purchased.

Folder Panel functionality

  • All new icons.
  • Improved the tree performance. Big trees should now be ready within 1 or 2 seconds. Improved the folder listing performance. Folders with many subfolders and/or files should now display within 1 second.
  • Each user has a “home” folder, which is situated in Root/Users. The folder is displayed with a “home” icon and is only accessible to the user (unless he/she decides to give access to others).
  • Replaced the popup help bubbles with a more friendly one.
  • Moved the folder name into the icon bar (with the light-blue background). Under the question mark, the user will get information about the access rights of other users and about their alert status.
  • Removed the button “View as thumbnails” from the icon bar. Instead, thumbnails of images and pdf's are created on the fly, and shown in a “bubble” when the mouse is moved over the file name.
  • Added a button “Make slideshow” to the icon bar on folders that contain images. All images in the folder can be viewed in a flash movie. Note: an issue exists with Internet Explorer, which makes that this function does not work as expected.
  • Improved choosing which file icon to display. Choice is now based on the mime type of the file and no longer on the file extension.
  • Removed the total storage space from the information at the bottom of the folder list and replaced it with the current amount of credits that are available. Note: credit message is not available for resellers.
  • Improved display of the file versions.
  • Added the option to set folder rights only to the user when creating a new folder. The option is also available in the uploader.
  • Introduced “administrator mode”: administrators no longer automatically have access to all folders and files after login. Instead, they have to switch to “administrator mode” to achieve this. The mode can be left again to go back to “user mode”.
  • Added optional rights for maintaining Public Folders to ordinary users (requires a re-login of the user). The option is set in “Manage Users”.

Control Panel functionality

  • The boxes at the right-hand side of the option buttons have been put in an accordion. The box “Quota Summary” has been replaced with “Credit Report”. Note: not available for resellers.
  • In “Manage Users → Edit User”, the option “Allow creation and maintenance of Public Folders” has been added. The default value is “No” and can be changed in “Manage Preferences”.
  • In “Manage Mail → Manage Aliases”, the users' aliases are now displayed.
  • In “Manage Preferences → Change Default User Preferences”, the option “Default Allow Maintenance Of Public Folders” has been added. It defaults to “No”.
  • The option “Configure Account” has been removed from “Manage Account” and replaced by “Purchase Credits”. In this function, credits can be purchased for any desired amount. Information is available about the usage of the system and the estimate amount of credits that are needed. Note: not available for resellers.
  • Added “Credit Log” to “Reports”. Reports on credit usage can be made per month. Note: not available for resellers.

  • In the folder view, the icons on top of the first column (actions for multiple files) have been removed to improve the displaying quality. The icons will now appear animated when a folder or file is selected.
  • Added 'drag-n-drop' functionality to folders and files, enabling moving them with the mouse. The functionality is available on the icon on the left side of the file name.
